Stick it on the reverse side after "Tora! Tora! Tora!" and you'd get a dark, deep sequence. "Ice Machine" is a bit dull, but its structure and melody are different for Vince Clarke and therefore I think it could have found a place on the album. I knew this track from the green live EP before I knew the studio version I prefer the studio version. I really like the Rio Mix, too, the vaguely Latin vibe in the second half is so surprising and yet was kind of in the song all along, just so overwhelmed by the space-age sound and the filtered vocal.

"Shout" is one of my favorite early tracks by DM, because of the experimental sound of it and the choices in production that many here are complaining about.
